I started my studies at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara California in 1965.  I graduated with a Bachelors of Professional Arts Degree in 1968.  Brooks was a beautiful school located in the exclusive neighborhood of Montecito.  During my time there they expanded to another campus and after I graduated they expanded to three campuses.  Unfortunately, they later sold out to a national company who ran the school into the ground.    They closed their doors in 2016 after 70 years of teaching thousands of Photographers the Art of Photography.
My years at Brooks are some of my fondest years.  Though the study of Photography may sound somewhat glamorous, in reality, the classes were very challenging.    We started with around 60 students of which only 8 actually graduated.  It was while I was at Brooks that I was asked to do some publicity photographs of an actor, turned politician, who was running for Governor of California.  He was in Santa Barbara for part of a day and my roommate Jim and I  spent part of the day with him.  His name was Ronald Reagan and he would go on to become the 40th President of the United States.   This book contains some of my favorite images from my years at Brooks.
